WEWAI – ‘Works Even Without AI’

Regardless of whether AI is a bubble or not, it might be wise to build systems that are not dependent on AI for them to be able to function.

My jobstr.work site is one such concept. Sure AI can query the relays and answer questions about the jobs listed, but equally you can use the website to fetch results and filter them.

AI should be the bonus, not the the actual “thing”

If you’re product relies on OpenAI or Anthropic or Gemini then it’s just a wrapper.

If you think you have built an agent, is it just a fancy prompt and a tool?

RAG is an example where the data is the primary feature, and the LLM strapped on as a chatbot is paraphrasing what you already have.

A good question to ask is “Does it work even without AI” – if you can answer “yes” then you likely have a sound product.
